Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao starrer Vivah- A Journey From Engagement To Marraige, is directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya. The other starcast of the film includes Anupam Kher, Aloknath, Seema Biswas, Manoj Joshi, Amrita Prakash, Sameer Soni and Lata Sabharwal. The movie was released on 10 November 2006 under the famous banner of Rajshri Productions. Music Director, Ravindra Jain has given the superhit music of the film. The list of the singers in the film includes the names of Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghosal, Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo, Aparna Bhargava, Pamela Jain and Suresh Wadkar. The film was well recieved by the audience and went on to became one of the big hit of that year.

Poonam ( Amrita Rao ) is a beautiful girl, who is living with her uncle Krishna Kant ( Aloknath ), after the death of her parents. Her aunt Rama ( Seema Biswas ) is jealous of her beauty as she looks more beautiful than her own daughter Rajni ( Amrita Prakash ). One day, Bhagatji ( Manoj Joshi ) brings a marriage proposal to Krishna Kant for Poonam. He wants Poonam to get married in a rich and decent family of a rich businessman, Mr. Harsh Chandra ( Anupam Kher ). He brings the proposal of Harsh Chandra’s second son, Prem, for Poonam. Harsh Chandra’s family comprises of his elder son, Sunil ( Sameer Soni ), his daughter-in-law Bhavna ( Lata Sabharwal ) and his second son, Prem.

Sunil and Bhavna informs Prem about Harsh Chandra’s wish. Harsh Chandra alongwith his family visits Poonam’s family. Prem and Poonam get attracted towards each other and give their nod for the marraige. Krishna Kant invites Harsh Chandra with his family to their residence in Som Sarovar, sop that Prem and Poonam can spend some time with each other and get to know each other well. Both family enjoys a good time there. After returning from Som Sarovar, Poonam and Prem starts interacting via telephone and letters. They expresses their love to each other on telephone. Prem is asked by his father to go on a business trip. And when Prem returns, both families announce their wedding. But a tragic incident happens at Poonam’s home when while saving Rajni, Poonam gets heavily burned. Poonam considers that now as she is no longer beautiful therefore Prem will not like to marry her. But despite of Poonam’s injury, Prem still wishes to marry her. Harsh Chandra calls specialist for Poonam’s operation. In the end Poonam recovers from the injusry and get married to Prem.
