Zeenat Aman is one of the famous bollywood actresses during 1970s and 1980s. She was born on 19th November, 1951 in India. She is the daughter of Amanullah Khan who was muslim by religion and was one of the writers for the blockbuster movies of Mughal-E-Azam and Pakeezah. Her mother was a hindu German citizen. Her father died when she was only 13 years of age. She attended the St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai for her graduation and moved to Los Angeles for further studies. She took a job as a journalist for Femina and later moved to modeling. She was married to Sanjay Khan but she left him and again married to Mazhar Khan in 1980s who died in 1998. She has two sons named Azaan and Zahaan.

Zeenat Aman made her bollywood acting debut in the year 1971 with the movie ‘Hulchul‘ which was directed by O.P. Ralhan. She played a small role of Neena in the movie. The movie was average in which her role went unnoticed. She next starred in the movie ‘Hungama’ in 1971 alongwith Kishore Kumar and Vinod Khanna but the movie was not successful. She was chosen for the role of Dev Anand’s sister in the movie ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ in 1972 after the role was rejected by Zaheeda. The song “Dum Maro Dum” which was picturised on her became superhit and she won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for the movie. Later Dev Anand and her pair was seen in six movies, Heera Panna (1973), Ishq Ishq Ishq (1974), Prem Shastra (1974), Warrant (1975), Darling Darling (1977) and Kalabaaz (1977).
The movie Warrant became the biggest hit at the box office. She became more popular for her hip looks in the movie ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ where she carried a guitar and sang “Churaliya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko”. She starred in some of the successful movies such as Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), Shalimar (1978), Insaaf Ka Tarazu (1980), Qurbani (1980), Dostana (1980) and Laawaris (1981). She received the nomination in Filmfare Awards for best actress for the movie Insaaf Ka Tarazu where she played the role of a rape victim. Her performance was applauded as it was the first movie made on this issue. Her last role as the female lead was in the movie ‘Gawahi’ in 1989. She has received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Zee Cine Awards function in 2008.
