Vinod Mehra was a famous, versatile and very talented bollywood actor. He was born on 13th February, 1945 at Amritsar. He was married three times in his life. His first marriage to Meena Broca was arranged by his parents. The marriage was reportedly not so successful. Then he married to former bollywood actress Bindiya Goswami but again not successful. Bindiya Goswami left him and get married with director J.P Dutta. He was said to be married to superstar Rekha also but it is suspicious. His last wife was Kiran, and that marriage lasted until his death. He has two children Soniya and Rohan. He died becuase of a heart attack on 30th October, 1990 at the age of 45. Soniya and Rohan were brought up in Kenya and then Soniya went to London for further education. Soniya recently made her debut with the movie Victoria No.203 which is a remake of the 1972 classic and was released on 31st August, 2007.

He started out his career as a child actor in the movie ‘Raagni’ in 1958 in which he played the younger version of the character played by Kishore Kumar. He started his film career as an adult in 1971 with the film ” Parday Ke Peechhay ” opposit debutant Yogeeta Bali followed by Elaan(Rekha), Ek Thi Rita(Tanuja), Amar Prem(1972) and Lal Patthar. He played the lead role in some of his earlier films but often acted in many multi-starrer films as the secondary lead or played supporting roles such as a brother, friend, uncle, father and police officer. He worked with many actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra etc. He mostly worked with Rekha, Mausami Chetterjee, Yogita Bali, Shabana Azmi and Bindiya Goswami.

He has worked in many films but some of his prominent films were Amar Prem, Nagin, Jaani Dushman, Khuddar. He also received filmfare nominations as Best Supporting Actor for Anurodh (1977), Amardeep (1979), and Bemisaal(1982). He was also the producer and director of the film Gurudev which was released after his death at the age of 45 in 1990. Many movies in which he appeared were released after his death and some movies such as Insaniyat (1994) and Aurat Aurat Aurat (1996). were written again excluding his character.
