Vasundhara Das is a bollywood actress and a singer who was born in 1977 at Bangalore, Karnataka. She was born in a Hebbar Iyengar family and her pet name is Lovely. She studied at All Girls Convent High School , Bangalore and graduated in Economics and Maths from Mount Carmel College. Her studies of music began from her childhood since the age of six but she used to run away to avoid these lessons. Her mother tongue is Tamil but she can speak other languages such as Kannada, Hindi, English and broken Spanish. She has been dating Roberto Narain who is an Italian for a long-time.

Vasundhara Das made her singing debut in the year 1999 with the movie ‘Mudhalvan’ which is a Tamil-language movie and directed by Shankar. She worked with famous music director and singer A.R Rehman. She also made her acting debut in the year 1999 with the movie ‘Hey Ram’ which was a controversial movie and directed by Kamal Haasan. She starred opposite south superstar Kamal Haasan in the movie. She has sung in many different languages and has also recorded her own album of non-film songs. She found a musical band named Arya with Roberto Narain after shifting her base from Bangalore to Mumbai. The band comprises musicians from various backgrounds in world music, ranging from Hindustani and Carnatic classical music to jazz, Latin, rock and pop.

She has also given her voice to the bollywood where she has sung many successful songs in many successful movies such as Main Hoon Na (2004), Lagaan (2001), Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa (2008) etc. She sang the song “Shakalaka Baby” in the movie Nayak in 2001 which became a huge success. This song was picturised on Sushmita Sen. Another song “Aaja Gufaon Mein Aa” from the movie Aks in 2001 became hit. The movie included Amitabh Bachchan, Nandita Das, Raveena Tondan and Manoj Bajpai. She was also the lead actress of the hit film Monsoon Wedding in 2005. Not only this she has sung a song in the movie Lagaan for the British character played by Rachel Shelley.
