The movie Swarg Narak is a hit movie which was directed by Narayana Rao Dasari in 1978. Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Shabana Azmi and Tauja played the leading roles in the movie alongwith Jagdeep, Om Shivpuri, Raj Mehra, Shammi, Vikram Gokhale, Paintal, Birbal, Helen and Pandharibai whose role were equally important. The movie was full of comedy and drama which was released on 21st December, 1978 under the banner of Vijaya Productions Pvt. Ltd. The music of the movie was given by Rajesh Roshan and the list of playback singers included Asha BhosleChristineKishore KumarLata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi. This movie is a remake of a Telugu film called ‘Swargam Narakam’. This movie is based on three married couples. First couple are Pandit Sohanlal Tripathi (Sanjeev Kumar) and his wife Mary who lives a happy married life. The second couple are Vinod (Vinod Mehra) and his wife Geeta (Shabana Azmi) who are living in his mother’s (Kamini Kaushal) home. They both are unhappy with them which results in Vinod spending a lot of time with Leena (Prema Narayan) and frequenting late and all-night parties. His wife Geeta always patiently waits for him to be returned from late nights. The third couple are Vicky Kapoor (Jeetendra) and his wife Shobha (Moushumi Chatterjee). Theirs marriage seems to be happy.

Shobha is a very jealous and possessive woman by nature. Only her that habbit is the matter of worry for his husband Vicky. Later one day she sees her husband with some another woman. Being possessive and jealous by nature, she suspects they are having an affair and she starts asking many questions to Vicky when he comes to home. Vicky tells Shobha that lady’s name as Radha (Tanuja). The story takes many turns when Shobha leaves her husband and there Vinod also decides to leave the home. Tripathi tries his very best to tie them up again but looks like these two couples are unable to compromise and adjust to married life.
