Girish Karnad and Jaya Prada starrer bollywood movie “Sur Sangam” was released under the production of Krishna Rao, V Ramesh and Kishore in the year of 1985 while the movie is directed by K Vishwanath, P Sambasiva Rao and Rajendra Rath. The supporting cast of the movie includes Sachin, Paintal, Sadhna Singh, Deven Verma, Tabassum, Asrani, Bharti Achrekar, Mohan Choti, Sulbha Deshpande, Urmila Matondkar, Dina Pathak, Bhushan Tiwari, Asha Singh and S Dubey. The melodious music of the movie is composed and directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs are sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Lata Mangeshkar, Anuradha Paudwal, S. Janaki, S.P.Balasubramaniam and Suresh Wadkar.

The movie Sur Sangam is a musical romantic movie that revolved around the love story that took place in the periodic era of the Mughal peiod. The movie focuses on the life of a young musician called Pandit Shivshankar Shastri ( Girish Karnad ), he was the greatest artist of the country who had won the hearts of everyone with his wonderful music and songs. He was the master of all ancient and modern music forms and he also served as the chief musician in the palace of the emperor. Shivshankar was madly in love with a beautiful girl Tulsi ( Jaya Prada ).

His love was very secret to him, no one else knew about this because Tulsi comes from a lower cast and also there were some issues related to her character. Hence Shivshankar has to bury his love deep inside his heart. The twist in the movie comes when one day Sharda ( Sadhna Singh ) the daughter of an influential man Kanneshwar ( Sachin ), who was fond of Shivshankar’s music fell in love with him. She proposed him but got a negative response, this made Kanneshwar very angry and also this attitude of Shivshankar also created rift between him and other villagers.
