A famous bollywood playback singer named Sonu Kakkar was born in in Rishikesh, Utrakhand. She started her career in singing when she was at the tender age of five. She used to sing in Hindu devotional gatherings which are also called Jagrans. After sometime her family moved to the capital of India, New Delhi. Once she was participating in a music contest and showed her talent of voice to the audience. Her voice had been noticed by famous bollywood music director ‘Sandeep’ chowta. He noticed that her voice has a kind of magic that holds the listeners. Her inspiration is famous Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who was also a legend of his time.

Mumbai was that place where she can find a way in singing and pursuing her career in music. There she got a song “Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo” from the movie Dum in 2003. The song became a superhit and the industry saw a fresh face and talent. Then she was soon inundated with offers to sing similar numbers. She never looked back after there. Her next notable performance was in a non-film album called Mitti by Sandeep Chowta in which her song “Call of the Lover - Sun Charkhe Di” was an emotional and heart winning number. The song established Sonu as a talented singer in the industry. She also sang a classical song “Saanwaria” in the movie Boom directed by Kaizad Gustad in 2003. She recieved critical appreciation for the song.

She has sung many seductive songs such as “Shaadi Se Pehle Honeymoon” in kismat »”>Kis Kis Ki Kismat directed by Govind Menon, a very seductive song in the movie Tauba Tauba starred by Payal Rohtagi, a dance number in Ram Gopal Verma‚Äôs Naach and an item number in the movie Sheesha directed by Guddu Dhanoa and composed by Sen brothers. She has also sung Sufi song in the album Channa Vey. She never limited herself into a particular style or genre rather she always tries to experiments with the new range of songs. She has sung for many famous music directors such as Harry Anand, Sheizwood Ashish, Anu Malik, A R Rehman, Rajesh Roshan, Anand Raj Anand and Talvin Singh.
