Abhay Deol and Ayesaha Takia starrer romantic comedy “Socha Na Tha” was released on March 4, 2005. The movie is directed by Imtiaz Ali under the banner of Vijayta Films. Socha Na Tha is a chaotic romantic movie directed by Imtiaz Ali. The plot of the movie is very impressing but the screenplay of the movie is not apt, it is over stretched in the second half. The movie revolves around the central character Viren Oberoi ( Abhay Deol ). All the relatives and his family members have decided to marry Viren with Aditi ( Ayesha Takia ), everything seems to be perfect. But on the contrary Viren is in love with some other girl Karen ( Apoorva Jha ), a catholic girl. In his very first meeting with Aditi he confessed this to her and they decided not to marry. This decision of Viren was not liked by his family and a rift was created between his and Aditi’s family.

Viren proposed Karen for marriage and she agreed to the proposal. Her family was also ready for the marriage but the opposition came from within, his family wasn’t ready for this marriage. Still in love with Karen, Viren treated Aditi as a good friend and they kept meeting regularly, he used to share his problems with her. The effect of their frequent meetings was seen on Viren, slowly he fell in love with her. With a dramatic turnaround Viren’s family agreed for his marriage with Karen. Now Viren is trapped between his own decisions. Whom should he choose? The movie had an appealing plot but the lackluster screenplay is the biggest flaw of the movie. Overall the movie is a good fun date film and would attract the youth.
