Songs of Silsila

Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Rekha starred bollywood superhit movie ‘Silsila’ is a romantic movie which was produced and directed by Yash Chopra. The movie was released on 29th July, 1981 under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Other starcast included Sudha Chopra, Sushma Seth, Sharmila Roy Chowdhry, Ranvir Raj, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Deven Verma, Sanjeev Kumar, Nirupama Verma etc in significant roles. The story was written by Mrs. Preeti Bedi and screenplay was given by Yash Chopra and Sagar Sarhadi. The melodious music of the movie was given by Hariprasad Chaurasia and Shiv Kumar Sharma whereas songs were sang by Pamela Chopra, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc. Hit songs of the movie are listed below:

Movie starts with two young and handsome guys named Shekhar Malhotra (Shashi Kapoor) and Amit Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan) who are brothers. They get orphaned at very early age and from there they survive and lead independent lives. Shekhar has now become a Squadron Leader with the Indian Air Force whereas Amit is a struggling writer. Their life is all set but there is a need of a woman in both lifes who can take care of them. Later Shekhar meets beautiful Shobha (Jaya Bhaduri) whereas Amit woos an attractive Chandni (Rekha). Both of them decide to marry soon but unfortunately god has decided something else for them. Shekhar gets killed in a plane crash leaving behind pregnant and devastated Shobha.

Amit too is very sad for his brother’s death and takes pity on Shobha’s fortune. He decides to marry Shobha and writes to Chandni to forget him. This breaks the heart of Chandni and therefore she maries Dr. V.K. Anand (Sanjeev Kumar) who has fallen in love with her. But this is not it for Shobha as she loses her child in a car accident. Everything is ruined for Shobha and later Amit meets Chandni and they secretly rekindle their romance. One day Chandni accidentally hits a passer-by and later police is involved. But their secret meeting is not secret anymore as the Police Inspector Kulbhushan (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) is Shobha’s cousin and he decides to expose Amit’s affair with Chandni.
