Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna starred bollywood movie ‘Patthar Aur Payal’ is a family drama movie which was directed by Harmesh Malhotra. The movie was released on 13th August, 1974 under the banner of K.P.S. Films. Other starcast included Jayshree T., Ajit, Rajendra Nath, Iftekhar, M.B. Shetty, Rajan Haksar, D.K. Sapru, Jankidas, V. Gopal, Gurbachchan Singh etc in significant roles. K.P. Singh and N.P. Singh whereas the story and screenplay of the movie were written by Ravi Kapoor. Dialogues were given by Dr. Rahi Masoom Reza while the music was given by Kalyanji-Anandji. Movie starts with Ajit Singh (Ajit) who lives a life of criminal alongwith his younger brother named Ranjeet (Dharmendra). He is a leader of gang of bandits in which his brother is also in the gang. Later one day Ranjeet meets with a beautiful young woman named Sapna Sinha (Hema Malini). Later he falls in love with her and also does not wants to be a gangster anymore. When his brother comes to know about his decision of becoming a simple man, he get very annoyed with him and also his henchman named Surajbhan Singh (Vinod Khanna). Then he re-locates to the city in order to live a peaceful life.

But Ranjeet is later shocked when he is arrested and held in prison. After that Sarju and Ajit come to the city and kidnap Sapna as they know that Ranjeet will come back to rescue her. Later Ranjeet comes to know about Sapna and decides to rescue her and in order to do this, he needs the co-operation of the police. But they will only help him conditionally. Therefore Ranjeet escapes from the police and goes back to the den of the bandits. There he once again comes in shock when he gets to know that Sarju has forcibly taken over Ajit’s place and both Ajit and Sapna are held hostage.
