Rishi Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri starred movie ‘Nagina’ is a fantasy movie which is fyll of romance. The movie was directed by Harmesh Malhotra and it was released on 28th November, 1986 under the banner of Eastern Films. Other starcast included Prem Chopra , Komal Mahuvakar, Sushma Seth, Jagdeep, Pinchoo Kapoor, Viju Khote, Guddi Maruti, Manmauji and Sham Awasthi in important supporting roles. The screenplay and dialogues were written by Ravi Kapoor and Achala Nagar respectively. Music of the movie was given by famous duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and the list of playback singers included Mohammed Aziz, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Lata Mangeshkar and Anuradha Paudwal. The movie is based on the fantasy of snakes. The movie starts with Rajiv (Rishi Kapoor) who is a wealthy person comes from a very rich family. He lives a wealthy lifestyle with his mother (Sushma Seth) in his palatial home. Once he sees Rajni (Sridevi) and falls in love with her withouot knowing she is a shape-shifting venomous snake. But Rajiv’s mother would like him to get married to Vijaya Singh (Komal Mahuvakar) who is very beautiful and the only child of her father Thakur Ajay Singh (Prem Chopra). Rajiv diagrees with his mother and ask her to meet Rajni at least once. On meeting with Rajni, his mother gets to know is an orphan and has no family background. She opposes this marriage but later agreed because Rajni indeed is a beautiful woman.

Both Rajiv and Rajni gets married and starts living a very happy life untill the arrival of Bhairo Nath (Amrish Puri) who is a religious man and is capable of controlling snakes. Soon he identifies Rajni and informs Rajiv’s mother about that woman. He explains her that she has married Rajiv to avenge the death of her spouse years ago when Rajiv was a child. But his mother does not know that Bhairo Nath is telling a lie and he has his secret agenda in entrapping Rajni. He wants to get the ‘mani’ from her so that he becomes more powerful than anyone else.
