Sunil Dutt and Nutan Behl starred movie ‘Milan’ is a romantic drama movie which was directed by Adurthi Subba Rao. The movie was released in 1967 under the banner of Prasad Productions Pvt. Ltd. Other starcast included Jamuna, Pran, Surendranath, Shyama, Deven Verma, Leela Mishra, Mukri, Babbanlal Yadav, Arun Rai, David Abraham, Lalit Kapoor etc in important roles. The movie was produced by L.V. Prasad whereas the story was written by Athreya Mullapudi. The screenplay and dialogues of the movie were written by Adurthi Subba Rao and Virendra Sinha respectively. Music of the movie was given by famous Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh sang the songs. Hit songs of the movie are listed below:

Movie starts with Gopikishan (Sunil Dutt) who is an orphan and lives a poor lifestyle on the banks of the Holy River Ganga. He take the passangers to the other bank of the river on his rickety boat and this is the only way of his income. There he is assisted by another orphan girl named Gauri (Jamuna). She has fallen in love with him without in his knowledge, and has a hope that Gopi will marry her someday. But Gopi meets a beautiful woman named Radha (Nutan Behl) and falls in love with her. Radha comes from a wealthy background and lives alongwith her father (Surendranath) and step-mother (Shyama). Gopi gives her a red rose everyday and teaches her to sing. In return he gets some lessons in English on which he works hard. That is the reward for Radha.

Shortly, Radha’s uncle named Rajendra (Pran) arranges her marriage with Prince Ram Vishwanath Rai (Deven Verma) who is a wealthy man. When she comes to know about her marriage with him, she reluctantly consents. Gopi’s heart gets break when he comes to know about Radha’s marriage. He expresses his true feelings through a song in her wedding ceremony and at last gives her a good bye. He looks forward to the Lakshmi Pooja celebrations while Radha will be visiting her family. She does not know that everyone has come to know about her feelings for Gopi.
