Raj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Simi Grewal starrer Mera Naam Joker is directed by Raj Kapoor. The pther starcast of the film inlcudes Manoj Kumar, Dharmendra, Dara Singh and Rajendra Kumar. The movie was released in the year 1970 under the banner of R. K. Films. The hit music of the film is composed by Shankar-Jaikishan. The list of the singers used in the film includes the famous names of Mukesh, Manna Dey, Mohammed Rafi, Nitin Mukesh and Asha Bhonsle. The film is supposed to be inspired by Raj Kapoor’s own life. Raju ( Raj Kapoor ), is a son of one of the best circus clown ever. Raju’s father died in an accident happened during his performance. Raju’s mother therefore is always against of the circus. But Raju have a natural attraction towards the circus world and he desperately wants to enter in it. Raju, in his childhood days get infatuated with his teacher Mary ( Simi Garewal ) after seeing her nude while taking bath. He expresses his love to her to which she refuses. Then only he realises that he was born to make the world laugh on his own sorrows.

Now Raju is an adult working in Gemini Circus as a clown. The circus owner, Mahendra Singh ( Dharmendra ), is quite impressed by his skills. He also meets with a beautiful girl, Marina ( Kseniya Ryabinkina ), who is a Russian artist working in the same circus. Despite of the language barrier between them, Raju falls in love with her and starts dreaming of a married life with her. But Raju once again gets heartbroken when in the end of the circus Marina returns to Russia. Soon Raju meets with another girl, Meena ( Padmini ), who aspires of becoming a famous actress. Meena also ends up dumping Raju because of her desire to get fame and success.
