Songs of Manzil

Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee starred movie ‘Manzil’ is a romantic family drama which was direced by Basu Chatterjee. The movie was released on 14th May, 1979 and the other starcast included Rakesh Pandey, Satyendra Kapoor, A.K. Hangal, Urmila Bhatt, C.S. Dubey, Praveen Paul, Lalita Pawar, Shreeram Lagoo, Sunder etc in equally important roles. The movie was produced by Jai Pawar, Raj Prakash and Rajiv Suri. The writers of the movie were Ashish Burman and Manohar Shyam Joshi whereas music of the movie was given by famous Rahul Dev Burman. Movie starts with Ajay Chandra (Amitabh Bachchan) who is an ambitious young man. He is a part-time singer and runs a small business of manufacturing galvanometers from a tiny and shared office premises. One day he meets with an attractive lady named Aruna Khosla (Moushumi Chatterjee) in a wedding of his friend. Later he falls in love with her without knowing that she comes from a rich and wealthy background. Her father is a lawyer named Mr. Khosla (Satyendra Kapoor). When Ajay comes to know about her truth, he is afraid of telling the truth about himself as she may not have anything to do with him. So he decides to hide his position and uses his rich friend’s car, apartment etc. to impress Aruna’s family.

He is doing all this in hope that soon he will succeed in his own business before they are married. But unfortunately he falls prey to the cut throat competion in business and loses all his investment. Seeing no other options, he discloses everything to Aruna who is sympathetic to Ajay and loves him for what he is. When Aruna’s father comes to know about his real position, he instructs his daughter never to see Ajay again and turns down the marriage proposal. He also starts to prosecute Ajay for business fraud but through his hard work and Aruna’s support he wins her father’s heart.
