Shweta Prasadwiki and Shabana Azmi starred movie ‘Makdee’ is a fantasy movie which was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The movie was released on 22nd November, 2002 under the banner of Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures. Other starcast included Makrand Deshpande, Alaap Mazgaonkar, Mohini Mathur, Vinit Kumar, Chittaranjan Giri and many more in significant roles. The movie was produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and Sanjay Routray whereas the screenplay and dialogues were written by Vishal Bhardwaj. Also the music of the movie was given by Vishal Bhardwaj. Movie starts with a small girl named Chunni (Shweta Prasad) who lives a middle class lifestyle alongwith her father who is a widower, her grandmother and a sister named Munni (also Shweta Prasad) who is identical twin sister. But both the sisters are exact opposite of each other in respect of mannerism. Chunni is very naughty and always plays pranks with the villagers including Kallu (Makrand Deshpande) who is a village butcher. He has his butcher shop where he sells chickens and Chunni always tries to play various tricks with him. She has also a best friend named Mughal-e-Azam (Alaap Mazgaonkar) who studies alongwith both the sisters in the village school.

On the other hand, Munni is an intelligent and honest girl who is sometimes blamed for Chunni’s deeds. There is a haunted house at the outside of the village. It is believed that the house was haunted by a witch called Makdee (Shabana Azmi) who turns the people into animals. Later one day, Kallu misunderstands Munni as Chunni and gets after her. Therefore she runs away and hides in the haunted house. But she does not comes back and then Chunni decides to go into the house. There she meets Makdee and strikes a deal with her that she will present Makdee with hundred hens in exchange for Munni in human form. Soon the truth comes in front of everyone and also Makdee is not a witch.
