Songs of Mahaan


Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi and Waheeda Rehman starrer hit movie “Mahaan” was full with action, comedy and family drama. The movie was released under the production of Satyanarayana and Surynara on April 28, 1983. The movie was directed by S Ramanathan. Supporting cast of the movie includes Aruna Irani, Ashok Kumar, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Amjad Khan, Sujit Kumar, Mac Mohan, Mukri, Iftekhar and Gurubachan Singh. Music direction was led by the most famous music director Rahul Dev Burman and the singers used were Amit Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Rahul Dev Burman and Amitabh Bachchan.

Story of the movie is about a man Amit ( Amitabh Bachchan ) who has a friend named Vikram ( Amjad Khan ). Vikram was arrested by the police in the case of having drugs. Although It was not right as a person named Rajan ( Sujit Kumar ) made a fraud case against him. After he is released from the jail, Amit tries to settle the fight between them. He could not do that and their fights resulted in the murder of Rajan. While he was getting murdered Amit in his self defense killed a person. Police gets to know about this and comes on the spot. Somehow Amit is able to run from there.

Amit has a pregnant wife Janki ( Waheeda Rehman ) who suggests him to run out of station. Both of them fly away from that place. She went to some other place. Later she gives birth to twin brothers Shankar ( Amitabh Bachchan ) and Guru but unfortunately both of them are separated from each other. She then lives with Shankar. Janki and her son Shankar tries to find their family everywhere. What will happen next? Overall the movie became a hit and liked by the audience. Songs of the film are still sung by the young generation.
