Kishore Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Vyjayanthimala and Kamini Devi starred bollywood movie ‘Ladki’ is a comedy movie which was directed by M.V. Raman. The movie was released in 1953 under the banner of A.V.M. Productions. Other starcast included Chittor V. Nagaiah, Om Prakash, Umesh Sharma, Randhir, Raj Mehra, Master Chhotu, Leela Mishra, Indira Acharya, Sophie etc in important roles. The movie was produced by A.V. Meiyappan and T.K. Srinivasan and the story of the movie was written by R. Venkatachalam. The dialogues were written by Hargobind Duggal and Rajendra Krishan. Music was given by Dhaniram and Sudarsanam R. whereas list of playback singers included Geeta Dutt etc. Hit songs of the movie are listed below:

Movie starts with Raja (Bharat Bhushan) who lives a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his father named Hazurdas (Om Prakash) who is eccentric and woman hating as he is of upper caste and his mother (Leela Mishra). He has a friend named Kishore (Kishore Kumar) who studies alongwith him in his college. Both of them are studying for medical and to become a successful doctor. One day when both of them going to their college, on the way they meet with two young women named Rani Mehra (Vyjayanthimala) and Kamini (Anjali Devi). Raja has fallen in love with Kamini while Kishore gets in love with Rani. Raja then decides to get married with Kamini knowing properly that Kamini is of a lower caste. Soon their marriage takes place.

Raja has also finds a way of this problem as he does not tell his parents about her caste. Later he comes to understand that it is not possible and then he informs his parents. This results in a chaos in the house and his parents wants him to divorce Kamini and get married to a girl of their choice. Raja refuses and returns back to Kamini but is shocked to see Kamini in the hands of Sunder who is his childhood friend. This makes their relation breaks and then Raja decides to marry the girl his parents have chosen for him. There he comes once again in shock to see Rani as his father’s choice.
