Songs of Ladka Ladki


Kishore Kumar, Mumtaz and Laxmi Chhaya starred bollywood movie ‘Ladka Ladki’ is a comedy packed movie which was directed by Som Haksar. The movie was released in 1966 under the banner of Bright Films. Other starcast included Bhagwan, I.S. Johar, Tun Tun, Sujit Kumar, Raj Mehra, Leela Mishra, Johnny Whisky etc who plyed in significant supporting roles. The evergreen music of the movie was scored by famous Madan Mohan whereas list of playback singers included Asha Bhosle, Mahendra Kapoor, Usha Khanna, Kishore Kumar, Usha Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi who gave their melodious voice to the songs of the movie. Movie starts with Kishore Kumar Khandewala (Kishore Kumar) who lives a poor lifestyle alongwith his mother (Leela Mishra) who is ailing and a sister named Laxmi (Laxmi Chhaya) who is a child-widow. He is an artist by profession. One day he meets with an attractive lady named Asha (Mumtaz) who is also an artist like him. But they start confronting each other and a man named Girdharilal Patwarilal (Raj Mehra) offers the two feuding artistes to come together and form a ‘Free Club’ to entertain people free of cost. Both of them agree quickly.

One day he gets a shock when he comes to know that he has been named as the sole survivor of a small kingdom. Later he asks his friend named Jagmohan (I.S. Johar) to go there and make some arrangements before he comes there. Kishore would like his sister to get married to Jagmohan. On reaching of Jagmohan there the people of there unfortunately mistake Jagmohan as the crown prince and make him their king. Soon he gets married to a noble-woman named Nirmaladevi (Tun Tun). When Kishore comes to know that Jagmohan has married another woman, he is devastated as his mother passes away and his sister cannot get married. He also loses his sanity and is hospitalized in a mental institution.
