Songs of Ladka Ladki

Som Haksar directed romantic comedy flick titled Ladka Ladki was released in the year 1966. The movie has a very interesting starcast with Kishore Kumar and Mumtaz in lead roles. The rest of the starcast includes Laxmi Chhaya, Tun Tun, Raj Mehra, Master Bhagwan, I. S. Johar, Sujit Kumar and Leela Mishra in important characters. Madan Mohan has composed the melodious music of the film. Some of the very famous as well as veteran singers of bollywood industry like Mahendra Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Usha Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc have lend their swet voices for the songs in the film. Kishore Kumar as usual has done a fabulous job in the comedy scenes of the film. However, in few of the serious scenes in the film, he is a bit low in terms of acting. Mumtaz has played the role of a very glamorous girl in the film. Both of them (i.e. Kishore and Mumtaz) have looked very nice as a pair in the film.

Girdharilal Patwarilal (Raj Mehra) is a rich guy who wants to form a free club for entertaining people. He appoints two feuding artists, Asha (Mumtaz) and Kishore Kumar Khandewala (Kishore Kumar) for this purpose. The task of Asha and Kishore is to form a free club in which they can entertain people absolutely free of cost. Jagmohan (I.S. Johar) is a close friend of Kishore. Kishore ask Jagmohan to go to a place and he himself leaves for his village. Kishore visits his ailing mother and sister laxmi (played by Laxmi Chhaya). Kishore decides to get her sister married with his close pal, Jagmohan. He brings his mother and sister to city. He search for Jagmohan and get shocked to learn that Jagmohan has been crowned as Prince of a small kingdom.

People of the kingdom are trying to get Jagmohan married with Rajkumari Niramal Devi (Tun Tun). Kishore gets so shocked with this news that he looses his mental balance. His mother also dies in shock leaving behind Laxmi alone in the city. Kishore is also hospitalized in a mental institution. Asha somehow reveals about Kishore’s condition. She decides to help him. Whether Asha would be able to cure Kishore? What will happen to kishore’s sister? Whether Jagmohan will be able to run away from the place? All these questions are answered in the second half of the film. As usual the movie has a happy ending.
