Manoj Kumar and Hema Malini starrer Kranti is written and directed by manoj Kumar himself. The other starcast of the film includes Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Prem Chopra and Parveen Babi in important roles. The movie was released on February 3, 1981 under the banner of V.I.P Films. Music Director Duo Laxmikant Pyarelal has given the melodious music of the film. The plot of the movie is set against 19th Century British India. The movie starts with Sanga ( Dilip Kumar ), who announces a war against britishers. He get seperated from his family comprises of his wife and two sons. Sanga becomes famous as Kranti. His elder son Bharat ( Manoj Kumar ) has also announced a war against Britisher like him and gets the title of Kranti. On the other hand, Sanga’s younger son Shakti ( Shashi Kapoor ), who was brought up in the royal family is against them.

Bharat meets with a beautiful girl named Rajkumari Meenakshi ( Hema Malini ), who also decides to fight alongwith them after knowing about the illtreatments of Britishers on them. Meenakshi also falls in love with Bharat. Kareem Khan ( Shatrughan Sinha ) joins the group of Bharat for fighting against Britishers. Shakti also joins them in the war after knowing about his true identity.
