Konkona Sen Sharma is a famous bollywood actress who primarily appears in Indian arthouse and independent movies. She was born on 3rd December, 1979 at the capital of India, New Delhi. She is the daughter of Mukul Sharma, a science writer and journalist and Aparna Sen who is also an actress and filmmaker. Konkana’s achievements in the genre have established her as one of the leading actresses of contemporary parallel cinema. She has an elder sister named Kamalini Chatterje. She has attended Modern High School for Girls, Calcutta, as well as the Calcutta International School. She has also received a degree in English from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi in 2001.

Konkona Sen Sharma made her acting debut as a child artist in the year 1983 with the movie ‘Indira’ which was directed by Dinen Gupta. She made her acting debut as an adult in 2000 with a Bengali movie ‘Ek Je Aachhe Kanya’ in which she played a negative character and was appreciated. She next appeared in the movie ‘Titli’ in 2002 which was directed by Rituporno Ghosh. She played the role of Titli opposite her mother and Mithun Chakraborty. She got the big break in the movie ‘Mr. and Mrs. Iyer’ directed by Aparna Sen in 2002 in which she played Mrs. Meenakshi S. Iyer, a Tamil housewife opposite Rahul Bose. The movie got her the National Film Award for Best Actress. By the time she became a known face in the industry. This was followed by the critically acclaimed movie, ‘Page 3′ in 2005, though the movie was an average performer at the box office.

Her role of Madhvi Sharma in the movie won the Zee Cine Award Best Female Debut for this performance, which was her first act in commercial cinema.
