Rahul Roy and Pooja Bhatt starrer romantic movie “Jaanam” was released under the banner of Vishesh Films in 1993, the movie is produced by Mahesh Bhatt while it is directed by Vikram Bhatt. The supporting cast of the movie includes Deepak Tijori, Rajrut, Tiku Talsania, Pawan Malhotra and Ashutosh Gowarikar who have played important roles in the story of the movie. The music of the movie is composed and directed by Anu Malik while the songs are sung by Amit Kumar, Anuradha Paudwal, Vipin Desai, Sachdev and Anu Malik.

The movie Jaanam comes up with a story that tells the story of two rivals and how their children fell in love with each other which aggravated their differences even further. The story of the movie revolves around the life of Shankar Rao ( Paresh Rawal ) who is the leader of the fishermen society and Dhanraj ( Vikram Gohkhale ) a rich and corrupt business man. Dhanraj wanted to acquire the land of the the fishermen to setup a hotel but this was strongly opposed by Shankar Rao. Shankar had a son called Amar ( Rahul Roy ), Amar fell in love with a young beautiful girl Anjali ( Pooja Bhatt).

Anjali accidently happens to be the daughter of Dhanraj, both decided to get married but when Dhanraj came to know about this relation, it send burning ripples through his mind. He got mad on Shankar and his son. He decided to teach him a lesion and hence ordered his men to set on fire in the society of fishermen, in this fire many people lost their lives, among them was Rajan, Dhanraj’s son and also Arun who was the son of Shankar. This incident aggravated their differences and now Dhanraj decided to eliminate the whole family of Shankar specially Amar.
