Ishaa Koppikar is a famous bollywood actress who was born on 19th September, 1976 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her family is of Mangalorean origin. She has a younger brother. She attended the Ramnarain Ruia College in Mumbai from where she graduated in Life Sciences. She started to appear in photoshoot for Indian photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha during her time at college. She has won the Miss Talent Crown in Miss India Contest in 1995. She was introduced in the movies through her modelling and later she starred in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi movies. She continues to model for Anita Dongre who is a fashion designer. She is a spokesperson for the animal rights organisation PETA.

Ishaa Koppikar made her acting debut in the year 1998 with a Tamil movie ‘Kaadhal Kavithai’ where she played the role of Jothi opposite Prashanth. She was also awarded the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for this movie. Her second movie in Tamil was ‘En Swasa Kaatre’ in 1998 where she played opposite Arvind Swamy and the movie was directed by K.S. Ravikumar. She eyed on the bollywood in 2000 where she got a chance to appear in the movie ‘Fiza’ alongwith Karishma Kapoor and Hritik Roshan. She also has performed an item number in the movie ‘Rahul’ in 2001 which was directed by Prakash Jha. Later she moved to Tamil to act in the movie ‘Kaathal Solla Vanthen’. She has also appeared in an item number in the movie Company in 2002 which became very famous called “Khallas”.

She has starred in many hit movies for which she gained the applause such as Kaante (2002), Pinjar (2003), Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003), Darna Mana Hai (2003), Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005), Don - The Chase Begins Again (2006), Darling (2007) and Darna Zaroori Hai (2006). She has worked with many successful actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, Shahrukh Khan, Fardeen Khan, Anupam Kher and Saif Ali Khan. One of her movie named Girlfriend in which she starred with Amrita Arora, has given some very bold scenes which caused in public poster burning and calls for the film to be banned. Later her performance in the movie Kyaa Kool Hai Hum was appreciated by the critics in which she played as Urmila Martodkar, a Sub-Inspector of Police.
