Amol Palekar and Bindiya Goswami starrer hit comedy flick Golmaal is directed by ace filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The other starcast of the film includes Uttpal Dutt, Deven Verma and Dina Pathak. The movie was released in the year 1979. Music Director R.D. Burman has given the melodious hit music of the film. The list of the singers includes some famous names of Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc. Amol Palekar won the Best Actor Award for his performance in the movie and Uttpal Dutt recieved Best Comedian Award for his amazing comic timing.

Ramprasad Dashrathprasad Sharma ( Amol Palekar ) is an unemployed guy who is only looking for a good job for himself. He goes to give his interview at Bhavani Shankar’s ( Uttpal Dutt ) office. He comes to know from someone that Bhavani Shankar has a very strong fascination for Indian culture and he is fond of moustache. Ramprasad decides to stand on all the conditions of Bhavani Shankar. Ramprasad wears a moustache and short kurta to impress him and also becomes successful in his plan.

But Ramprasad creates a problem for himself when he ask for the leave from Bhavani Shankar so that he could go to see the hockey match with his friends. He makes the reason that his mother is ill but in reality his mother is already dead for several years. But much to his badluck, Bhavani Shankar also attends the same hockey match where Ramprasad is present with his friends. Bhavani sees him there and confronts him for saying lie to him. Ramprasad manages to convince him that Bhavani had seen his identical brother Laxman there and not him. Then starts the real comedy of errors in which many other interesting characters add on one by one.
