The movie comes up Farz Ki Jung comps up with an ordinary story that tells about the increasing crime and the corruption in the society, how honest people are ditched by the society. The movie revolves around the life of an honest police inspector Vikram ( Sashi Kapoor ), who is an honest and very brave police inspector. He puts his life before his duty. His life was very smooth until one day when he was charged by his fellow policemen for allegedly carring drugh in his bag and he was arrested by the police. When this news reached his mother ( Asha Lata ), it was hard for her to face the society after this incident.

And this is why she lost her life due to heart attack. Within few days his trial began in the court, but it was very tough for innocent for VIkram to prove himself and in the end verdict came against him and he was sentenced to imprisonment for seven years. While in the jail VIkram realized that honesty never pays and one has to become a part of this corrupt society in order to live happily. He started learning the tits and tats of the criminal world from the fellow convicts and when he was released he immediately became one of the biggest criminal of the town. But he now finds his younger brother Inspector Amar ( Govinda ) on the crossroads.
