Shahrukh Khan and Divya Bharati starred movie ‘Dil Aashna Hai’ is a romantic movie which was produced and directed by Hema Malini. The movie was released on 23rd October, 1992 under the banner of H.M. Creations. Other starcast included Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Dimple Kapadia, Amrita Singh, Sonu Walia, Kabir Bedi, Raza Murad, Farida Jalal, Satyendra Kapoor and Sushma Seth in important supporting roles. Dialodues of the movie were written by Iqbal Durrani and Suraj Sanim whereas the story and screenplay of the movie were written by Imtiaz Hussain. Famous Anand-Milind had composed the music of the movie and the list of playback singers included Abhijeet, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam, Suresh Wadkar etc. Hit songs of the movie are listed below:

The movie begins from St. Teresa’s Convent College where three young women were studying during the academic year 1973-74. Their names were Barkha (Dimple Kapadia), Rajlaxmi (Amrita Singh) and Salma (Sonu Walia). They all have their respective boyfriends named Sunil (Mithun Chakraborty), Arjun Singh (Jeetendra) and Akram (Nassar Abdulla). All three once got intimated with their boyfriends and unfortunately one of them became pregnant before before they could get married. They decided not to reveal the mother’s identity to the world and bring up the child as their own. Soon they decided to go at a safe place where no one can see them when giving birth to the child. They also decided the first one to get married have to look after the child. The baby girl born and they named them Sitara.

She was left in the care of Razia (Farida Jalal) who later took her to an orphanage run by Shantidevi. Then Salma gets married to Akram, Rajlaxmi also gets married to Prince Arjun Singh and Barkha’s boyfriend left her to settle in USA. But none of them adopted that baby. Three years after their marriages, they all went to visit Sitara but learned that she had been abducted. Then they returned and never spoke about her. Now, eighteen years have gone and Barkha is now the Health and Welfare Minister, Salma is the Principal of St. Teresa’s Convent and Rajlaxmi manages a stud farm. They all shocked when a girl named Laila (Divya Bharti) with Karan (Shahrukh Khan) comes in their life who is none other than the daughter of one in three of them. Later Laila gets to know that Barkha is her biological mother.
