Social drama “Delhi 6” was released under the banners of UTV Motion Pictures and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures on February 20, 2009. The movie starred Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles while the movie is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The story of the movie Delhi 6 as the name suggests is based in the real Delhi, the old Delhi of Chandni Chowk, Chawdi Bazaar and tells the story of people living in the heart of Delhi. The movie starts in New York where Roshan ( Abhishek Bachchan ), the young son of the family brings back his grandmother Dadi ( Waheedha Rehman ) on her insistence back to her home place in Old Delhi. It is here he learnt why his Dadi was insisting to return back here. Everyone knows each other here, both Hindu Muslim live in harmony. Being in the heart of Delhi he gets every flavor of this place from Ramlila to the crowded streets to the flying pegions.

In the midst of all this everyone is horrified with the news of a terrifying black monkey ( Kala Bandar ), the story of Kala Bandar is running in parallel throughout the movie. The whole society and the police department is after this monkey. At the same time Roshan got acquaintance with Bittu ( Sonam Kapoor ), a young ambitious, beautiful girl. Soon they became friends. And silently both fell in love with each other. As the hunt for the Kala Bandar was on a baba claimed that Muslims were responsible for the origin of the Bandar and due to this both communities got against of each other and riots were inflicted. When Bittu was running from her family from being married, Roshan ran after her but as he expressed his love to her he was beaten up by the crowd
