Deewana Mastana a comedy movie which released on September 23, 1997.The comedy king David Dhawan directed the biggest comedy release of the year. Govinda, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla played the lead roles in the movie. Anupam Kher, Reema Lagoo, Johnny Lever, Avtar Gill, Saeed Jaffrey, Upasna Singh, Shakti Kapoor, Himani Shivpuri and Satish Kaushik played the supporting roles in the movie. The music for the movie was given by the legendary duo of Laxmikant Pyarelal .Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Vinod Rathod, Alka Yagnik and Kavita Krishnamurthy sang the songs of the movie.

Rajkumar aka Raja ( Anil Kapoor ) and Gafoor ( Johnny Lever ) who are close friends plan and rob the money from the clock house of a railway station. The money was being transferred via the train under the supervision of a police officer. They head to Bombay to spend their newly acquired wealth where raja meets Neha ( Juhi Chawla ) and falls in love with her. Juhi plays a doctor and raja meets her by taking Gafoor alongside him who pretends to mentally challenged and who wants to find a bride for his brother. Raja waits for the right time to confess his feelings to Neha.

Now enters Bunnu ( Govinda ) who is the only son of a business tycoon. He also falls for Neha the first time they meet and now two people want to marry Neha. Both of them meet and make several plans to remove the other person from the life of Neha. Raja plans a failed attempt on the life of Bunnu. Bunnu hires a contract killer to kill raja. The movie is full of comedy in the end appears Salman Khan is the one who marries Neha. Salman plays a cameo and only appears at the end of the movie.
