Naseruddhin Shah, Danny Denzongpa and Urmila Matondkar starrer bollywood action movie “China Gate” was released under the production and direction of Rajkumar Santoshi on November 27, 1998. The supporting cast of the movie includes K.D Chandran, Jagdeep, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Mamta Kulkarni, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Girish Karnad, Anupam Kher and Viju Khote. The movie China Gate comes in the era of late 90’s when the trend of movies is predominated by romantic and comic flicks. The movie talks about the fight of few good men against the terror of a dacoit. The movie resembles those shot in the late 70’s and the 80’s. The movie runs on the plot that is more like the classical Sholay that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. China Gate tells the story of a group of ten ex-army men, who were living under the shame of being court-martialed from army for showing coward behavior when they were attacked by the enemy.

To remove this stamp of coward from their face they got a chance to help a village of Devdurg from the terror of a dreaded dacoit Jageera ( Mukesh Tiwari ). He killed the forest officer Sunder Rajan ( Girish Karnad ) very brutally, so his daughter approached Colonel Krishnakant Puri ( Amrish Puri ) to kill Jageera. He reassembled his team for one last mission and named it mission China Gate. They all set out towards Devdurg in hunt of Jageera. Slowly they started hurting Jageera by killing his people, this brought the villagers in their side. As the story progressed they realized that the local police is also in the hands of Jageera. Will they win this battle or the tag of being coward will always remain on their face.
