Songs of Bhrashtachar

Mithun Chakraborty, Rekha, Anupam Kher, Shilpa Shirodkar and Rajnikanth starred drama movie Bhrashtachar is full of action and crime which was directed by famous director Ramesh Sippy. The movie was released on 22nd November, 1989 under the banner of Sippy Films. Other starcast includes Raza Murad, Abhinav Chaturvedi, Girja Shankar and Padma Khanna in important roles. The story of the movie is written by Manohar Shyam Joshi and the list of playback singers include Mohammed Aziz, Sudesh Bhonsle, Anuradha Paudwal, Suresh Wadkar and Alka Yagnik who have sung the songs in the movie. The music is given by famous duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The movie was a box office hit and did a good bussiness. Hit songs of the movie are:

Jayanti (Anjana Mumtaz) lives a poor lifestyle after the death of her husband Karamveer Ganesh Dutt who was a newspaper editor. She lives in Kangla Tola along with her daughter whoes name is Bhavani (Rekha), a journalist fighting injustice and corruption and son whose name is Gopal (Abhinav Chaturvedi), an aspiring IAS officer. Janki (Padma Khanna) who is widow and become a mistress of Fatte (Sudhir Pandey) who is a local hoodlum. Bhavani tries to make the lives of some prostitutes better but faces a strong oppose from Fatte Dada. She also tries to save a blind girl Gopi (Shilpa Shirodkar) from all this and complaints to a seemingly corrupt, alcoholic and unkempt Police Inspector Ashutosh Das (Mithun Chakraborty) in the police against him but he never listen her.

Police does not take any action against Fatte because he has a very deep connection with the politicians and also they need Fatte to remain in power. At that time an aspiring politiciain Purshottam (Anupam Kher) move ahead and helps her and inducts her in his political party. He also permits her to run a newspaper publication as well as instructs criminal code proceedings against Phatte. But later Jayanti identifies Purshottam as her husband’s killer. Bhavani gets a huge shock when she is held liable for defaming Purshottam’s name and operating a brothel. Her mother is confined to a mental institute while Gopi is abducted and sexually molested and killed at last by another hoodlum Abdul Sattar (Rajnikanth). Bhavani is arrested by Zoravar Singh (Raza Murad) accusing the murder of Deepali Das who is the sister of Ashutosh Das.
