Sunil Dutt, Saroja Devi B. and Mehmood starred movie ‘Beti Bete’ is a family drama movie which was directed by L.V. Prasad. The movie was released in 1964 under the banner of Prasad Productions Pvt. Ltd. Other starcast included Shubha Khote, Jamuna, Rajendra Nath, Jayant, Agha, Niranjan Sharma, Baby Farida, Jankidas, Keshav Rana, Narmada Shankar, Khursheed Khan, Master Deep Kumar etc in significant roles. The movie was produced by L.V. Prasad whereas the screenplayn and dialogues of the movie were written by Inder Raj Anand. Music of the movie was gven by famous duo Shankar-Jaikishan and the songs of the movie were sang by Asha Bhosle, Suman Kalyanpur, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi. The movie gets started with a person who lives a poor lifestyle alongwith his three children. He is a widower as his wife has passed away leaving behind him and her children devastated. Soon he comes to the debt and finds himself helpless in this world. To make the conditions more worse for him, he meets with an accident in his place of work and the accident is called an industrial accident. In the accident, he loses his both eyes and becomes blind which results in losing of his job. Also he is admitted in the hospital for several days. After a long period of time, he is discharged from the hospital and is now on his way to home.

But unfortunately, when he goes to his home, he overhears the heartless landlord criticising him for not dying instead of merely blinding himself. Also he said if he could die, then the future of the children will get bright as they could be looked after in an orphanage. After listening these types of conversations, he decides not to return to his home and gets disappeares. Later the three childre lose their contacts with each other as one is left on a train and another is kidnapped. Several years later, all the three children grow up in different homes under different circumstances.
