Songs of Baton Baton Mein


Amol Palekar and Tina Munim starred bollywood movie ‘Baton Baton Mein’ is a romantic comedy movie which was produced and directed by Basu Chatterjee. The movie was released on 13th April, 1979 and other starcast included G. Asrani, David Abraham, Leela Mishra, Pearl Padamsee, Tun Tun, Arvind Deshpande, Piloo J. Wadia, Shobhini Singh, Mazhar Khan and Ranjit Chowdhry in significant supporting roles. The music of the movie was directed by famous Rajesh Roshan and the list of playback singers included Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar who gave their melodious voice to the songs of the movie. The movie starts with Rosie Perreira (Pearl Padamsee) who lives a common lifestyle with her son named Sabhi (Ranjit Chowdhry) and a daughter named Nancy (Tina Munim). She is a widow but also is an overly anxious lady and her son is guitar-obsessed. She has a dream for Nancy that one day she will marry Nancy to a wealthy young man so that she does not have to live a hard life like her. In this purpose, her neighbour named Uncle Tom (David Abraham) who is of a very helpful nature introduces a young eligible man named Tony Braganza (Amol Palekar) to Nancy in the 9:10 a.m., Western Railway local train from Bandra to Churchgate. Later Tom asks Nancy to introduce Tony to Rosie so that she can also meets him and approves him.

Nancy takes him to her home to meet Tony to her mother. But Rosie falls in the situation of dilemma as Tony is currntly drawinga salary of rupees three hundred as compared to Nancy’s seven hundred. But soon changes her mind when she finds out that after his probationary period he will draw a monthly pay of rupees one thousand. Then Rosie allows Nancy to meet Tony and both eventually fall in love. Nancy wants him to marry soon but tony is unable to give any statement which results in Rosie starts looking elsewhere for a son-in-law.
