Babul Supriyo is a very well known and famous bollywood playback singer. He was born in Calcutta (Kolkata) as Supriyo Baral. His grandfather, Banikantha N C Baral, who was also a famous Bengali vocalist and composer, and Rai Chand Boral, who is considered as one of the most acclaimed composers, the Bengali music scene has ever produced. Babul got his training of music at a very young age. He has won a string of awards in singing during his educative years in school, college and university. Babul performed regularly on radio and television from very young age. He got a job at the standard chartered bank after completing his educational degree but his love towards music compells him to leave the job. Babul is married to Rhea who is an Indian-Canadian.

Babul moved to Mumbai in 1992 to fulfill his dreams. After having some struggle he finally got the opportunity to sing for T-Series, the cover versions of Kishore Kumar songs. By the time he scores an opportunity to fetch a stage break under famous music composer Kalyanji-Anandji in their foreign tour. This tour creates a place of Babul in the industry. He got his first break in the movie ‘Prem Yog’ in 1994 starred by Rishi Kapoor under the music direction of Bappi Lahiri. He never looks back after this and go on for more movies like Gadar, Kranti Shetra, Dadagiri, Shashtra, Amaanat and so on. His song “Hata Sawan Ki Ghata” from Hello Brother and “Aaj Meri Zindagi Mein” from Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi became popular but he never been in the news for his hit songs.

His song “Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukaraa” from Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was a sensation and became very popular. His first solo album was ‘Sochta Hun’ which includes simple music and mostly slow but fast occasionally music. The album was a major hit. He is always be greatful to those people who always helped him in anyway. He specially greatful to Nadeem who has guided him in playback singing. His songs “Meri tarah tum bhi kabhi” from Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai, “Jabse dekha” and “Maine koi jadoo nahin kiya” from Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai were also became popular and appriciated by the critics. Babul is hit in the list of all major music directors. He has won MTV Immies Awards in 2003 for his hit song “Sochta Hoon”.
