Govinda and Raveena Tondon starrer bollywood comic flic “Aunty No.1” was released under the banner of Lata Films on May 1, 1998, while it was directed by Kirti Kumar. The movie Aunty No. 1 comes on the celluloid with Govinda who has established himself as a great comic actor, playing the role of a woman. The story of the movie revolves around the life of Gopi ( Govinda ), who is frustrated by the loose comments of his sister-in-law ( Bindu ). His unemployment led him to a movie director Parheshan ( Satish Kaushik ), who promised him to cast him as the hero of his movie, during the shoot one day Gopi bumped into a beautiful girl Sandhya ( Raveena Tandon ), thinking her as the actress of the movie he took her along with him.

Soon Gopi realized that Sandhya is running from her home from being married to Gaurav ( Mohnish Behl ). She had always dreamt of marrying a rich and handsome person, and she found her dream man in the form of Gopi. She lost her heart for him and love blossomed between the two. When she realized that Gopi is not the man she thought of, he is as poor as she is, her dream world is shattered into pieces. But now nothing could be done as her heart is sold out, she returned back home. Gopi finds himself playing the Aunt of his close friends. Two old men Colonel Sadanand Dhongre ( Saeed Jaffrey ), and Rai Bahadur Behl ( Kader Khan ), try to woo her as they are astonished by her beauty. What follows is a series of hilarious situations.
