Amisha Patel is a very famous and popular bollywood actress who was born on 9th June, 1976 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of Amit Patel and Asha Patel and the grandaughter of the famous lawyer-politician Barrister Rajni Patel who was the Congress Pradesh Committee President of Bombay. She has a brother named Ashmit Patel who is also an actor. She was trained in Bharatnatyam dance when she was five years of age. She studied at the Cathedral and John Connon High School in Mumbai. She headed to overseas to study economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She joined Satyadev Dubey’s theatre group and acted in plays after returning to India.

Amisha Patel made her debut in the superhit movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai in 2000 which was directed by her father’s school mate Rakesh Roshan. He offered her a role in his film which she accepted. She starred opposite Hritik Roshan who had also made his debut with this movie. The movie earned her awards for Best Debut at a number of award ceremonies. Her second movie was a Telugu language drama Badri in which she starred opposite Pawan Kalyan and the movie gained a huge success. She was given a chance in another blockbuster movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001 directed by Anil Sharma. She starred as Sakeena opposite Sunny Deol. Her performance was praised, and won her the Filmfare Special Performance Award. But her later movies were not able to do well at the box office.

She had four successive flop movies at the box office but her movie Humraaz became one of the highest grossing films of the year. She was also nominated for Filmfare Best Actress Award for this movie. By the time she starred in some movies such as Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage which gained a mix response. She starred in the murder mystery Vaada in 2005 where she played the role of Arjun Rampal’s wife who is tracked by her former crazed lover. She later appeared in the movie Mangal Pandey: The Rising where she played the role of a Bengali widow. Some of her movies in 2006 were Mere Jeevan Saathi, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai, Teesri Aankh and Ankahee which earned her critical praise. Her only release in 2008 was Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji.
