Deb Mukherjee and Nazima starred movie ‘Adhikar’ is aaction packed comedy drama which was directed by S.M. Sagar. The movie was released on 28th April, 1971 under the banner of Kala Enterprises. Other starcast included Ashok Kumar, Nanda, Raj Mehra, Rajnish, Kishan Mehta, Shivraj, Brahmachari, Chandrima Bhaduri, Tabassum, Pran, Helen, Manik Dutt, Lata Arora, Indira Bansal etc in important roles. The movie was produced by S. Noor whereas story and dialogues of the movie were written by R.S. Verma and Ramesh Pant. The music of the movie was given by legendary Rahul Dev Burman and list of playback singers included Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar and Mohammad Rafi. Hit songs of the movie are listed below:

Movie starts with Barrister Shukla (Ashok Kumar) who is a widower and lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bombay. He has a daughter named Rekha (Tabassum) who is also living with him. His eldest daughter named Subhadra and her husband were killed in a vehicle accident few years back and they have a son named Shyam (Deb Mukherjee) who was undertook by him to look after. Shyanm has a paternal cousin named Rajan (Rajnish) and he runs the family business alongwith him. One day Shyam meets a beautiful damsel in distress named Radha (Nazima) and he falls in love with her. Later Radha also falls in love with him and soon they get intimate. Noe Shyam’s uncle wants him to go to Shivcharan Sharma (Raj Mehra) and meet his daughter and he does so.

When he reaches there, he gets surprized when the door is opened by none other than Radha herself. Shyam thanks the god and thinks that it is destiny which wants the two lovers uniting. He quickly informs his uncle that he has met with Shivcharan’s daughter and approves her. Later he travels abroad for some work and returns home after several months. He goes to meet Radha and gets a huge shock that Radha was really a prostitute, having multiple affairs and worked as a servan at Shivcharan’s home. The girl he was supposed to marry is Meera (Nanda). He changes his mind and agrees to get married with Meera. When he goes to Meera at the very first night, she informs him that she is a mother of a child. Shyam decides to stay away from her bride. Later Rajan tells him that he is the biological father of Meera’s child.
