Bollywood movie, Aakhree Raasta, was released in the year 1986 as a crime action drama. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi in lead roles while Jaya Prada, Anupam Kher, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and Dalip Tahil are the rest of the starcast of the movie. The movie was directed by K. Bhagyaraja while produced by Chandra Rao. The story of the movie was also written by K. Bhagyaraja. The movie was touted as the remake of a tamil film titled Oru Kaidhiyin Dairy which was released in the year 1984. Kamal Hassan were seen playing the lead role in the Tamil Version. However, the climax of Aakhree Raasta is completely different from the Tamil Version of the movie. Director, K. Bhagyaraja did some alteration in the climax of the Hindi movie so that it suits well with the Hindi audience. Amitabh Bachchan has played a dual role in the film, one as an old man and the other one is of his son. The songs of the movie suits well with the storyline of the film.

Amitabh Bachchan is once again in the the role of an action hero but this time for a change in the form of an old man. He is in the role of David D’ Costa, who lives a very poor lifestyle in Bombay city. He is amrried to Mary (Jayaprada). Mary is pregnant with David’s child. David works for Chaturvedi, who is a Member of Parliament. David worship Chaturvedi as a god and is even ready to put his own life at stake for him. Mary gives birth to a son and David alongwith Mary bring their newly born baby to Chaturvedi for blessings. Chaturvedi gets shocked to see the beautiful wife of David. He wants to get Mary on bed with him at any cost. He starts making a deadly plan for fulfilling his lust for Mary.

Chaturvedi first get David arrested by police and in his absence he brutally rapes Mary. Mary commits suicide after the incident. David’s friend Mahesh (Anupam Kher) gives bail for him and bring him home. It is then David reveals about the bad deed of Chaturvedi and death of his beloved wife. He goes to confront Chaturvedi, but is entrapped by Police Inspector Roop Kumar Sahay. David is sentenced to imprisonment for 20 long years. David ask Mahesh to take care of his son and to make him a deadly goon. But years later after releaseing from the jail, when David visits Mahesh’s house, he get shocked to learn that his son, James is a Police Officer.
