Jeetendra, Rameshwari and Reena Roy starred bollywood superhit movie ‘Aasha’ is a romantic family drama which was produced and directed by J. Om Prakash. The movie was released on 4th March, 1980 and the other starcast included Girish Karnad, Sulochana Latkar, Bhagwan, Sunder, Shivraj, Yunus Parvez, Sudhir Dalvi, Shakti Kapoor etc in equally important roles. The movie was written by Ram Kelkar and the dialogues of the movie were written by Ramesh Pant. Evergreen music was given by famous duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and the list of playback singers included Chanchal, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi etc. hit songs of the movie are listed below:

Movie starts with Deepak (Jeetendra) who lives a poor lifestyle and he is a truck driver by profession. He has fallen in love with Mala (Rameshwari) whome he marries. Once he gives lift to Aasha (Reena Roy) when her vehicle breaks down. Aasha is a famous singer who very soon becomes friend of Deepak and also invites him to her show. Later Aasha also has fallen in love with Deepak but wishes him well calling him ‘dost’. Once Deepak meets with an accident and everyone believes that he is dead. Here his wife Mala soon comes to know that she is pregnant. When she tells her mother-in-law (Sulochana Latkar), she throws her away from her house blaming her character. After that Mala goes to her father’s (Shivraj) home but he dies when he comes to know that Mala has been thrown out of her house.

Then Mala becomes upset from life and decides to end her life and jumps from a bridge into the water. Later she is saved by some members of a temple. Soon they comes to know that the lady has lost her eyes. She gives birth to a daughter and named her as ‘Deepmala’ which is a combination of her and Deepak’s name. Later Deepak comes back alive to his mother and she tells her that Mala has committed suicide and as a result Deepak goes in deprssion. Aasha helps him to overcome depression and soon they get engaged. After sometime Aasha meets Mala without knowing that she is the wife of Deepak, and also promises to pay for her eye operation so that she can get sight again. Mala can see again after the operation and goes to her daughter’s wedding but shock to see Deepak there.
