Sunny Deol and Preeti Zinta starrer action movie “The Hero” was released on April 11, 2003. The movie is directed by Anil Sharma under the banner of Time Magnetics (India) Pvt Ltd. Other cast of the movie in promonant roles includes Priyanka Chopra, Amrish Puri, Kabir Bedi, Rajpal Yadav, Deep Dhillon, Rajat Bedi, Parvin Dabbas, Shahbaaz Khan, Arif Zakaria and Malaika Arora. The music of the movie is composed and directed by Uttam Singh and the songs are sung by Alka Yagnik, Jaspinr Narula, Udit Narayan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Amrish Puri and Hariharan.

The hit combination of Sunny Deol and director Anil Sharma is back again in The Hero after successful Gadar. The movie doesn’t have the storyline as absorbing as Gadar but still it is an interesting story. The movie is threaded an special agent Arjun Khanna aka Batra ( Sunny Deol ), who is posted in Kashmir to stop rising terrorist insurgency. He bumped into a local girl Reshma ( Preeti Zinta ) and both fell in love. He send her across the border to spy on ISI chief Ishak Khan( Amrish Puri ). But during the process she was caught and Sunny Deol rescued her from Pakistan side.

They were engaged together after their arrival back home but on their engagement ceremony the terrorists blasted the location. Many people were killed and among them was Reshma also. Dejected Arjun left for his mission in Canada where he took the getup of Wahid to mix with the terrorists and Ishak Khan. He met a Pakistani girl Shaheen Zakaria ( Priyanka Chopra ), who incidentally was also treating paralyzed Resham who was flooded into Pakistan during her engagement incident. As the story progresses Sunny Deol eliminate all the evil forces. Overall the story of the movie is a bit predictable in the second half and hence the movie is not a big hit on the box office.
