Rajesh Khanna is a famous actor in bollywood who was born on 29th December, 1942 at Amritsar, Punjab. He is also nick named as Kaka and has been termed as the first Superstar of the Indian film industry. He was born as Jatin Khanna and was adopted by parents who already had three daughters of their own. He married Dimple Kapadia in 1973 who is a Gujrati and have two daughters named Twinkle Khanna who is a former bollywood actress and married to Akshay Kumar and Rinkie Khanna who also is married to Sameer Saran. Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia separated in 1984 due to their busy schedule. They get together after few years of seperation.

Rajesh Khanna won ‘All India Talent Contest’ through a nation-wide selection procedure and stepped in the industry. He made his debut in the year 1966 with the movie Aakhri Khat opposite Naqi Jehan which was directed by Chetan Anand. The movie was neither a big success. Then he acted in his next movie Raaz in which he appeared with heroine Babita but again he was unlucky and did not get the success. Then first he was noticed in the movie Baharon Ke Sapne in 1967. The movie became a successful one. His other more successful movies at the time were Aurat (1967), Khamoshi and Aradhana (1969). He appeared in many romantic, melodramatic and social films opposite some well established actresses like Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz, Hema Malini, Tina Munim and Asha Parekh.

He became a superstar by 1970s. The legendary Kishore Kumar gave his voice most of the times in his movies and the songs were composed by R.D.Burman. There was a sudden drop in his stardom after mid 1970s. During that time, he starred in some flop movies such as Aaina (1977) and Mehbooba (1976). He stopped acting in early 1990s and became a member of parliament of New Delhi Constituency from 1991 to 1996. He made a come back as a NRI in the movie Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999) and Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa (2002). He has won Filmfare Best Actor Award for many movies such as Anand (1971), Aradhana (1969), Kati Patang (1971), Amar Prem (1972), Daag (1973), Thodi Si Bewafai (1980), Avtaar (1983), Dushman (1972) and Sachcha Jhutha (1970). He also has recieved Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
