Jaya Bachchan, Om Puri and Mallika Sarabai starrer bollywood social drama “Lovesongs-Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” was released under the production of Sunil Doshi on March 28, 2008 while the movie is directed by Shamim Khan and Shubra Chatterjee. Lovesongs is a movie that tells the story that is filled with love and love only, it is narrated in English targeting the multiplex audience. The story of the movie revolves around the life of a old women Mridula Chatterjee ( Jaya Bachchan ), she is a widow and is the CEO of a NGO that helps the poor and disable children in the city of Kolkata. One day during the period vacations from his Law school her grandson Rohan ( Prithviraj Choudhury ) came to visit her. She was very happy to see him back again with her.

One night while having a good conversation Rohan asked her to tell the story of her life and she started narrating him her story. It all started when she was in her college days, she was in love with a college mate Aftaab Jaffrey ( Om Puri ), who comes from a Muslim family and hence their relation couldn’t go any further due to the pressure of the society. Later she agreed to marry a man of her parent’s choice. But after few months into their marriage he lost his life leaving behind her with a child inside her. she gave birth to a girl named Palaash ( Shahana Chatterjee ). One day she again came across her love Aftaab jaffery but now he is also married. The movie takes even more romantic turn when Rohan narrates this story to Tara ( Doel Basu ) his girlfriend.
