Anil Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon starrer bollywood romantic action movie “Kasam” was released under the production of Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar on April 15, 1988 while the movie is directed by Umesh Mehra. Other cast of the movie includes Pran, Aruna Irani, Jhonny Lever, Gulshan Grover, Kader Khan and Amrit Pal. The melodious music of the movie is composed and directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs are sung by Mahendra Kapoor, Shabbir Kumar, Chandrani Mukherjee and Uttara Kelkar.

The movie Kasam is a strory of a police officer who tried to wipe drug paddlers from the society but eventually was ditched by his own department which led him to break the jail and go against the system. The movie revolves around a village which was place where people used to grow drugs in their land. Lead by their leader Mangal Singh ( Pran ) they produced cocaine and sell it to earn their leaving. The movie changes its tracks when a young and dynamic police officer Kisna ( Anil Kapoor ) is transferred into this village, he was shocked to see the situation of the village producing this deadly drug.

In order to get a deep insight into the mindset of the people of the village, he decided to join among them. Soon he was one of them and started collecting information about the root cause of people dealing with drugs. In the due process he came across a beautiful village girl Savi ( Poonam Dhillon ) and soon he fell in love with her. What he didn’t know was that Savi was the daughter of Mangal Singh. He managed to convince the villager and Mangal Singh to stop producing cocaine and surrender all the drugs before police. But before they could do so the police attacked the village and killed many people among Mangal was also badly injured. Mangal was thrown out of the village and later was arrested by the police.
