John Abraham and Arjun Rampal starrer action movie “Elaan” was released under the banner of Venus Records & Tapes on January 14, 2005. The movie is directed by Vikram Bhatt. Other cast of the movie includes Rahul Khanna, Amisha Patel, Lara Dutta, Mithun Chakraborty, Ritu Shivpuri, Milind Gunaji, Madan Joshi,Chunky Pandey, Atul Mathur, Asrani and Avtar Gill in important roles. The music of the movie is composed and directed by Anu Malik and the songs are sung by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, K K, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghosal, Gayatri Ganjawala and Anu Malik.

Elaan has borrowed its plot from various classic action movies like Sholay. The movie didn’t had a great screenplay to rely on, the only thing going for the movie is its wonderful presentation, the sheen in its action sequences is the biggest plus point of the movie. The movie is about the revenge that a young dynamic man fights against a dreaded gangster. Baba Sikandar ( Mithun Chakraborty ), the ruler of the underworld, has no fear, he can kill anybody any time, the one who despise him has to bear the brunt of his fury. An honest man Kantilal Shah once refused to fall into the demands of Baba and hence had to face his anger.

Karan ( Rahul Khanna ), the adapted son of Kantilal Shah is filled with the anger and wants to take revenge with Baba Sikander. He assembles a team of five members to fight against the might of Baba Sikander. The team members include Arjun ( Arjun Rampal ) an ex police cop, Abhimanyun ( John Abraham ), who was once a trusted member of Sikander’s gang. Other two people in the team were Sonia ( Lara Dutta ), Abhimanyu’s girlfriend and Priya ( Amisha Patel ) an ambitious news reporter. Would Karan be able to succeed in his mission? The movie is wonderfully presented by the director but it lacks a good story and hence, it flatters at the box office.
